My wife and I stayed at the Athena last year and loved it. The staff was attentive and accommodating. The rooms were clean and a good size. We had everything we needed at our doorstep. The beach was nearby, the restaurants were plentiful. The Old Town was a long walk or a short cab ride away. The breakfast at the hotel is extensive and a great start to any day. I would recommend the Ancient Flame as a good place to have Greek food and with very little prodding the owner will sit and talk to you about the ancient history of Rhodes. There are shops all around in any direction you walk. If you like churches there are a few to enjoy seeing. We were there during the World Cup and every night every hotel bar was full with fans. My wife is Greek and she was born on the island of Nisyros which is only a three hour ferry ride from Rhodes and one of the peaceful places on earth. We will be going back to Greece soon and I cannot think of a better and more unpretentious yet enjoyable place to stay in Rhodes than the Hotel Athena.

My family and I recently spent two wonderful weeks in Rhodes Town. It is the second time we have been and enjoyed it that much the first time that we felt we must return as there is so much to see, you cannot possible fit it all into just two weeks. We stayed at the Athena Hotel, which is ideally located, 5 minutes from the beach and literally on the doorstep to shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is spotlessly clean, with excellent amenities, such as TV and free air conditionining and the reception and bar staff are excellent and made us feel so welcome. We can highly recommend several Restaurants, The Ancient Flame, Scalinis and Agalma, all of which are situated close by the Hotel and a "must do" is the Plaka Restaurant which is in the old town in Ipokratous Square. It is an ideal place to sit and watch the world go by with excellent staff attending to your every need. Overall we would all highly recommend Rhodes Town for any age group and we will definately be returning very soon
